VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIVIDUALS
Blessings Working Together's greatest need for volunteers is for ongoing administrative and programmatic support to keep our primary volunteer-based nonprofit organization running from day-to-day. Individual volunteers serve as support staff, lending a hand to help facilitate programs and activities that enrich the lives of Blessings Working Together teen mothers and their children. Example volunteer roles and their time commitments are provided below.

Board Member (1-5 hours/month): Serve as a trusted advisor, financial contributor and advocate to the organization as leadership develops and implements Blessings Working Together's strategic plan. Board members are required to make an annual cash contribution of $1,000 or more (give or raise). (Minimum 1 year commitment).

Mentor (1-5 hours/month): Coach and encourage Blessings Working Together participates as they create Individual Achievement Plans, while modeling positive life and leadership and providing connections and resources to promote goal achievement. (Minimum 6 month commitment.)

Social Media Coordinator (5-10 hours/month): Support the work of Blessings Working Together by facilitating and engaging our online networks via pro-social activities that further put a voice to and raise public awareness of the organization's mission. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who has a natural affinity for building awareness, communicating compelling messages and an eye for design. (Minimum 1 year commitment.)

Fundraising Coordinator (5-10 hours/month): Support the work of Blessings Working Together by facilitating fundraising campaigns and cultivating and retaining donor relationships that further support the mission and development of the organization. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who has a natural affinity for building awareness, cultivating relationships, persuading others and generating resources. (Minimum 1 year commitment.)

Grant Writer (5-10 hours/month): Support the work of Blessings Working Together by performing ongoing funding research and composing compelling grant proposals and support materials to secure funding for our programs and general operations. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual with prior grant writing experience and someone with outstanding grammar and research skills. (Minimum 1 year commitment.)

Volunteer Coordinator (5-10 hours/month): Support the welcoming of new volunteers by facilitating orientations and onboarding activities, and supports the engagement, training and retention of existing volunteers. (Minimum 1 year commitment.)
​
Workshop Facilitator (1-3 hours/workshop): Prepare and lead leadership and life skills training sessions, and engage and challenge class participants in interactive activities that promote their personal, academic and professional development. (Minimum 1 day commitment.)

eligibility criteria
To volunteer in our programs, individuals must:

Be women, ages 21 or older

Have earned at least a HS Diploma or GED
-
Reside in the metropolitan Atlanta area
-
Have a clean criminal history
-
Not be an abuser of any ATODs or illegal substances

Possess integrity, strong morals and values
-
Have mid- to executive-level professional, entrepreneurial or business experience
-
Be willing to consistently invest their time, treasure and/or talent

Communicate regularly with program staff and participants

Have a desire to work with youth

Possess active listening skills
-
Have experience working with people from diverse backgrounds

Be transparent and willing to share knowledge and personal experiences

Abide by all program policies and procedures
ONBOARDING PROCESS
To volunteer in any of our programs, individuals must complete the following steps within 30 days of start date:

Fill out our Volunteer Application. This simple application help us get to know your goals, interests, and background.

Complete an Online Orientation and Completion Quiz. The presentation gives an overview of our organization and highlights key information that will help you be successful in your new volunteer role. It should take less than an hour to view and respond to the verification questions that follow.

Complete a Background Check. There is a $35 nonrefundable administrative fee to cover the cost of the check.

Undergo a Reference Check. We will contact the character references provided on your application.
